PLDT says the Philippines could become a subsea cable crossroads for Asia-Pacific

At the Archipelagic Governance for Subsea Cables Forum, PLDT said the Philippines has the potential to become a convergence point for submarine cables, but this would require investment in high-value assets such as cloud ecosystems, data centers and the network backbone. PLDT Global chief executive Albert Villa-Real called for simpler permitting for cable deployment and repair, and for a response protocol when fiber lines are cut.
